The End Point Assessment Process

The purpose of the end point assessment (EPA) is to test that an apprentice is fully capable of doing their job before they receive their apprenticeship certificate. It also helps to demonstrate that what an apprentice has learned can be applied in the real world."

- IfATE August 2017.

To complete an apprenticeship, the apprentice will go through a 'gateway' process where they are signed-off by their employer as ready for a final for End Point Assessment of their Skill, Knowledge and behaviours. The assessment will be graded and the Independent Assessment Organisation (IAO) and assessor must be independent of, and separate from, the training provided by the provider and employer.
